About
What We Believe
All of our teaching and ministry flows out of these biblical doctrines.
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” A.W. Tozer
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, visible and invisible, and is worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
The Bible
We believe all scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that men and women of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Sin and salvation
Satan and sin separate us from God since the fall of man (Genesis 3:5-6). Through repentance and salvation, a believer receives forgiveness of sin and is reconciled to God.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a sinless life and willingly suffered and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers eternal life as a free gift to all who believe and follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. Salvation is found in Christ alone.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
The ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are significant to the church and to those who have committed themselves to Christ. Baptism is an outward expression of a believer’s faith. The Lord’s Supper is taken in remembrance of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ and is open to all who recognize their sinful state and have accepted Christ. We believe immersion was the common practice in the early church, but health, age, or other extraordinary circumstances may require alternate forms. In the end, it is repentance and the desire of one’s heart, not the form of a physical act, that fulfills Christ’s instruction. The mode of baptism and of partaking of the Lord’s Supper is left to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the understanding of each individual. See our baptism page.
The church
We believe in the Holy Christian Church, the New Testament church: a body of universal believers united in faith, dedicated to supporting each other and furthering the gospel to all races and nationalities, providing love, peace and service to the needy, hurting, rejected and spiritually lost. The church is not a building or denomination, but a body of believers with Christ as the Head and Chief Cornerstone.
Resurrection and eternal judgment
We believe in the resurrection and eternal judgment: the small and the great, the just and the unjust, will stand before the throne of God, where the book of life will be opened and all will be judged. We believe in Heaven and Hell, and that each individual will inherit one of these for eternity.
